True Traditional Aikido
The Malta Aikido Federation was established by Dr Mohab Fahmi in 1993, with the sole purpose of bringing Traditional Aikido to the Maltese Islands. The Dojo was established initially in Pembroke, then in Iklin where it had it's permanent headquarters. Due to various reasons, this Dojo closed down.
Seeing a dire need to teach True Traditional Aikido, the MAF we have started classes at St Dorothy's School in Zebbug. Classes will be held on Tuesday, 1915 hrs and Sunday, 1000 hrs. These courses will be structured as introductory courses in part, with the other part being for those already practicing Aikido and wish to further their knowledge. All classes will be conducted by Dr Fahmi, III Dan, who has over 15 years of teaching experience alone and over 25 years of Aikido practice.
What's the Difference?
True Aikido is a spiritual art that harmonizes with both the body and the mind. It is not just a set of techniques to be memorized and practiced incessantly. The deeper meaning of understanding oneself through mental discipline, as well as spiritual comprehension, coupled with the physical yoga is what Aikido is about. It is a way of linking oneself to the true essence of the Divine. It is in this spirit that True Traditional Aikido will be taught. And there are those in the world who share our vision, amongst them, our dear brothers and friends in Turkey, where any MAF member is welcome to practice the Art.
